3499870 - How to enforce the usage of IT Systems Dictionary entries in a model

Symptom

How can you enforce the usage of IT Systems Dictionary entries in a model.
We need to stop modelers using unlisted names for the IT Systems model entity.

Resolution

Use the Modeling Conventions so that it's mandatory for an IT System to have a Dictionary link.

To access this option, please use the following menu navigation in the Process Manager > Explorer.

  1. Setup > Define modeling conventions > Modeling rules (tab> > (Rule name) > (section) 2.3 Definition of required dictionary links > IT system
  2. Then, enable "IT Systems", select the first button (red = mandatory) and select "Required" from the drop-down menu.

For more information, please see SAP Help: SAP Signavio Process Manager Workspace Admin Guide > Managing Modeling Conventions

With the mandatory IT System Dictionary link set, when the modeler tries to save the model without the IT system having a Dictionary link, the following dialogue will occur;

  • Does your diagram meet defined modeling conventions?  - will show an Error (red)
  • Clicking on the Save button will result in a pop-up window that asks "Your diagram violates active modeling conventions. Do you want to save it nevertheless?".
