3500282 - How to Create a Production Bill of Material From Product Designs With Input Products.

Symptom

You would like to use the product design functionality to create a Bill of Materials (BOM) before releasing it to production. You are creating a product design under the Product Development Work Center and Product Designs view and when you go to the Detailed Structure option and click "Add Row", the components are not being pulled from the master data.

You would like to know how the functionality works.

Environment

my356189.sapbydesign.com

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Product Development work center

  2. Go to the Product Designs view.

  3. Select New and choose Product Design.

  4. Enter relevant Details.

  5. Under the Detailed Structure table, click Add Row.

  6. You expect the system to pull the Input Material from the Material Master.

Resolution

On the General tab, in the Detailed Structure table, when you click "Add Row", the components are not going to be pulled from the master data. You have to enter other product designs that are components of this product design which you want to convert to PBOM.
