Symptom
The error message "Cannot find field: Columnx in object: cust_xxx" is displayed in the Download Status log during MDF data import.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
Reproducing the Issue
1. Go to Import and Export Data.
2. Select Download Template.
3. Open the template as shown below. There is an additional header line:
4. Fill out the template with the necessary data and save the file.
5. Select Import Data.
6. Click Import and then View Result in the Scheduled Job Manager.
7. See Processed-Failed in the Progress.
8. Click View Details > Download Status
9. The message "Cannot find field: Columnx in object: cust_xxx" appears in the log.
Cause
The importing process supports only content and not the templates themselves. Opening the downloaded template directly in Excel can lead to save the additional header line and cause this error.
Resolution
1. Copy the content from the downloaded template.
2. Create a new .csv file.
3. Paste the copied content into the new .csv file.
4. Ensure all necessary columns and data are correctly filled out.
5. Import the newly created .csv file.
