3501119 - "Enable Case-Insensitive Usernames" feature

Symptom

  • System notification messages show in the UI:
    • Important: The following issues are impacting your system. Enable case-insensitive usernames.
    • Usernames are not case-insensitive in your system.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Resolution

If the case-insensitive username feature isn’t enabled in your system, a warning message displays. This warning cannot be removed.

You can manage the case sensitivity of usernames in your company system. By enabling case-insensitive usernames, you can better integrate your SAP SuccessFactors system with other SAP products.

If the "Enable Case-Insensitive Username" feature is enabled in SAP SuccessFactors, the system will treat usernames as the same regardless of capitalization. For example, the system will consider "john.doe@example.com" to be the same as "John.Doe@example.com" or "JOHN.DOE@example.com".

To enable this feature:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Company System and Logo Settings.
  2. Choose Enable Case-Insensitive Usernames.

Note: After you enabled this admin option, this option will gray out, and you can’t disable it anymore.

If duplicate usernames exist in the system, you will receive an error message when trying to enable the feature:

Unable to enable case-insensitive usernames. Duplicate usernames were found. To check duplicate usernames, go to Admin Center > Check Tool > System Health > Application > User Account Management, and choose the “There are no duplicate usernames in the noncase-sensitive mode.” check.
