Symptom
- Users with the BI admin role granted are unable to share, edit or access the content that is owned by different users.
- This user has all the permissions granted.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to SAP Analytics Cloud system with a user having the "BI Admin" role granted.
- Navigate to an existing folder that was created by a different user.
- Try to share this folder.
>> Notice that the "Share" button is greyed.
Cause
- Despite of being the "BI admin" role granted, the user is not the owner of the content to be shared.
- The BI admin user does not have the permission to access these folders.
- The sharing of Folders/files is applicable to users who are "Content owners" or have the "Share permission" for any files or folders that are shared with them.
Resolution
The "Folders/Stories/Models" needs to be shared with "Full Control" permissions with the concerned user. (Make sure to select the option "Apply to subfolders").
Note:
- Folder/Files owners can share files for data objects, such as stories, models, and analytic applications, and folders by giving users or teams a predefined access level (View, Edit, or Full Control) or by choosing Custom to give them custom access.
- If the content that you are sharing has dependencies that are from different locations, the users who have access to the shared content also need access to the dependencies and their locations.
