3502503 - IDENTITY columns cannot be encrypted - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When encrypted against an IDENTITY column, it fails
  • For encryption existing table with IDENTITY

    Msg 2764, Level 16, State 3:
    Server 'SYBASE', Line 1:
    Identity field 'col2' must be a numeric with a scale of 0. It may not be nullable or encrypted.

  • For creating new table with IDENTITY

    Msg 11776, Level 15, State 1:
    Server 'SYBASE', Line 1:
    A column with the IDENTITY property may not be encrypted.
