3506327 - "Sorry, we couldn't authenticate you. Please ensure your credentials are valid" when creating a data analyzer from a BW data source in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

The following errors are shown when creating a new data analyzer from a BW data source:

• Sorry, we couldn't authenticate you. Please ensure your credentials are valid.
  OR
• Failed to load query because of an authentication failure. Please contact your administrator.

In the Network trace (F12 -> Network tab), the /sap/bw/ina/GetServerInfo request fails with 401 unauthorized.
If you open a new tab and run the exact same URL in the new tab, it can return the response successfully.

This BW live connection can be saved successfully from the Connections module with the same user name and password.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

1. log in to the SAC tenant
2. go to data analyzer
3. create new from a datasource
4. system type = BW and select a connection from the dropdown list
5. enter the user name and password
6. the error is received

The backend BW system does not have necessary SameSite cookies settings in place.
