3507145 - Multiple Registered Products Can be Created With the Same ID

Symptom

It is possible to create two or more Registered Products with the same ID when they are related to different Reference Products.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Service Entitlements Work Center.
  2. Go into Registered Products View.
  3. Click on New -> Registered Product.
  4. On the Registered Product ID Field, enter ID DEF (DEF represents the ID of an existing Registered Product).
  5. Enter a Reference Product (It must be different than the Reference Product for the Registered Product DEF).
  6. Click on Save.

The system allows the creation of duplicated Registered Products IDs for different Registered Products, and it is successfully saved.

Cause

The definition of same Registered Product ID is allowed to components with different Reference Products, Since the ID is made up of both Reference and Registered Product.

Therefore, the system will only trigger an error message when trying to create two Registered Products with the same ID and same Reference Product.

Resolution

This is the expected system behavior.
