3507487 - Incorrect Extension of Contract Item End Date when Using the 'Copy and Extend' Function in a Contract

Symptom

When using the 'Copy and Extend' function in a Contract Item, you notice that another unrelated item also had it's Contract Item End Date changed.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
  2. Open the Contracts view.
  3. Find Contract ABC (Where ABC Represents the Contract ID).
  4. Open the Contract and click on View All.
  5. Navigate to the Items tab.
  6. Highlight Line Item DEF (Where DEF represents the Line Item number) and click the 'Copy and Extend' button.
  7. Input the desired duration of the extension.

A new Line Item is created, however, you also notice that the Item End Date of Line Item GHI (Where GHI Represents another Line Item number) is also extended by the same amount input in step #7.

Cause

This happens when there is no Renewal Rule maintained for the Header and Item level on the Contract. This is necessary for the system to correctly determine the dates when an extension happens.

Resolution

Please mantain a Renewal Rule in Contract ABC and for Line Items DEF and GHI and then use the 'Copy and Extend' function again.
