Symptom

Story upgrade fails when using custom IAS host URL in provisioning > Single Sign-On (SSO) Settings > SAML Issuer

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Try to run the "Stories in People Analytics" via Upgrade Center
  2. It fails with the error message below

   3. After reviewing the KBA 2945740 you identify that there is a custom IAS host URL set in "SAML Issuer"

Cause

Custom IAS host is not supported for Story upgrade.

Resolution

The standard IAS host must be configured in accordance with the recommendations outlined in KBA 2945740 prior to initiating the Story upgrade.
Important: Exercise caution when performing this change, as authentication to SuccessFactors may be temporarily disrupted during the transition.

This activity should ideally be executed by an authorized implementation partner. In the absence of a partner, the LOD-SF-PLT support team can assist, provided that explicit customer authorization is granted.

To successfully complete the Story Report upgrade:

  1. Configure the standard IAS host as described in KBA 2945740

  2. Do not perform any further changes for at least 48 hours

    • This waiting period is mandatory to allow full synchronization across the landscape
    • Attempting the upgrade before this period may result in validation errors

  3. After the 48-hour stabilization period, proceed with the upgrade.

    • Once the upgrade is successfully completed:

      • The system can be switched back to the custom IAS host, if required

    • After reverting to the custom IAS host:

      • Create a support ticket under component LOD-SF-ANA-SAC
      • Provide:
        • Company ID
        • Custom IAS host URL
      • This is required so the custom host can be registered as a Trusted Origin in SAC
