3508366 - "User attribute configured for name-id format unspecified is not supported" error when accessing the SAC URL in a parallel tab - Story troubleshooting

While troubleshooting blank/loading screen issues when creating/running Story reports via Report Center, you followed KBA 3508799 and encountered an error when accessing the SAC URL in a parallel tab.

Error message: Response has invalid status code urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:status:UnkownAttrProfile, status message is User attribute configured for name-id format unspecified is not supported.

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. Follow the KBA 3508799 - How to collect SAML traces for Story troubleshooting
2. When opening the SAC URL in a parallel tab, as described in the KBA, one of the errors below is displayed:

    3. Check the SAML traces and the following message is displayed: User attribute configured for name-id format unspecified is not supported.

    4. Open the IAS URL in a parallel tab, the Profile page should be displayed, if an error is displayed or if the login page is displayed, please contact the IAS team to review IAS settings: BC-IAM-IDS.

Missing or wrong Custom Attribute set for the user in IAS.

Make sure that the KBA 3043455 - Successfactors and IAS Profile data not match -  has been followed.

If the Custom Attribute is not being filled in IAS, LOD-SF-PLT-IAS team needs to be engaged.

NOTE: When the Custom Attribute is correctly set, the user UUID will be displayed in the SAML trace:

This "NameID" must match with Per Person UUID of the user in SuccessFactors. We can create a table report with the Employee Profile domain to check this. In the example below we can see that the "NameID" displayed in the SAML trace is matching with the Per Person UUID set in SuccessFactors:

It also must match with the "Custom Attribute" of the user in IAS > Users & Authorizations > User Management:

In the SAML call, SuccessFactors and IAS this ID must be in UPPERCASE with 32 alphanumeric characters.
