Symptom
- You would like to edit an existing OData Services Connection or IBP connection that has been shared with other users, including the associated credentials
- After editing the connection, the sharing type changes, and credentials are no longer shared with other users, causing them to re-enter credentials.
- As a result, the connection becomes non-usable for those users, and their existing jobs that rely on this connection will fail.
- It affects all Authentication types
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud version: 2024.15.5
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Go to "Connection" menu and create a new import OData Services connection or IBP connection. (For DataSphere OData, make sure to be logged into the System)
- Insert the parameters for the Connection with the option "Share these credentials when sharing this connection" > Click on "Create".
- "Edit" the connection > It will show "User credentials above will always be shared when this connection is shared with others."
- Re-enter the "Secret" or Password> Click "OK".
=> If trying to Edit the connection again, notice the status has been changed to "User credentials will not be shared when this connection is shared with others."
=> As a result, the connection becomes non-usable for those users, and their existing jobs that rely on this connection will fail.
Cause
- A new feature caused regression in an existing feature.
Resolution
This issue has been resolved in version 2024.15.6. If your connections have been affected due to this bug, please contact SAP support for assistance.
Temporary solution to unblock:
To temporarily unblock impacted users, each user (owner of the affected import/export jobs based on these connections) should log into SAP Analytics Cloud and re-enter the credentials for the shared connection. This process needs to be completed individually by all impacted users.
Please note that while this workaround provides a temporary fix, contacting SAP for a permanent solution is important.
