Symptom

  • You would like to know about the planned maintenance windows and planned major upgrade windows for your SAP Datasphere instance.
  • Is it possible to adjust/change maintenance window of SAP Datasphere? 
  • It may be necessary to plan or schedule execution times of Data Flows, Replication Flows or Task Chains etc outside of these planned maintenance windows to avoid errors during the execution of the flows.

  1. Is it possible to adjust/change maintenance window of SAP Datasphere? 
    A: Maintenance window dates and times are contractually fixed and cannot be changed. 

  2. How much downtime should be planned for? 
    A: Refer to Maintenance Windows and Major Upgrade Windows for SAP Cloud Services for up to date details on this. 
    The time duration is documented as a time slot of 3 hours. However, the experienced downtime depends on the type of maintenance activity performed in tenant and may be much shorter in duration than the 3 hours. 

  3. Can Maintenance Windows of other components also impact on Datasphere availability? 
    A: Refer to SAP Datasphere's Maintenance Window details, SAP Datasphere relies on other SAP Cloud services in addition:
    (1) These Major Upgrade Windows are separate from and in addition to Major Upgrade Windows of underlying SAP Business Technology Platform.
    (2) These Maintenance Windows are separate from and in addition to Maintenance Windows of underlying SAP HANA Cloud.
    (3) These Maintenance Windows are separate from and in addition to Maintenance Windows of underlying SAP Data Intelligence.

  4. The Datasphere's HANA Cloud instance upgrade is performed in Datasphere's or in HANA Cloud's Maintenance Window?
    A: Datasphere's HANA Cloud upgrade is performed during Datasphere's Maintenance Window, not in HANA Cloud Major Upgrade. 
    During a Datasphere's HANA Cloud upgrade, the Datasphere tenant may become temporarily unavailable and/or dysfunctional.
     
  5. Is this Maintenance Window the same as the Datasphere's Wave deployments? 
    A: No, they are different processes. Datasphere's wave delivery, providing a new Version, it is performed during work week.
    The schedule is provided in SAP Note 2984828 - SAP Datasphere Release & Delivery Schedule.
    While new Platform versions are provided during the Datasphere's MW which occurs on Fridays~Sundays as per region.
  6. What is SAP's recommendation for job scheduling during Maintenance windows?
    A: The recommendation is to schedule your mission critical Task Chain jobs, Replication Flows etc. to run outside of the known maintenance windows.
