Symptom

The installation of the standard version of Azure VM extension for SAP fails. Errors include:

  • VMExtensionProvisioningError) VM has reported a failure when processing extension 'AzureEnhancedMonitorForLinux' (publisher 'Microsoft.OSTCExtensions' and type 'AzureEnhancedMonitorForLinux'). Error message: 'unsupported operand type(s) for -: 'NoneType' and 'NoneType''.
  • Message: The handler for VM extension type 'Microsoft.OSTCExtensions.AzureEnhancedMonitorForLinux' has reported terminal failure for VM extension 'AzureEnhancedMonitorForLinux' with error message: '[ExtensionOperationError] Non-zero exit code: 1, /var/lib/waagent/Microsoft.OSTCExtensions.AzureEnhancedMonitorForLinux-3.0.1.0/installer.py
