3513533 - Not possible to create Blended Visualization without linked dimension in Optimized Design Experience (ODE) story mode in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• There is no possibility to do anymore blending on a chart without using the linked dimension in Optimized Design Experience (ODE) story mode in SAC.
• The visualization's state will be preserved, but will display an error indicating there is at least one linked dimension required.
• Error message: "For the widget to render, you need to add a linked dimension between the primary model and the secondary model." / "Visualization cannot be provided because there is no linked dimension from the primary model."
• This was working in Classic story mode.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2024.15.6

1. Login to SAC.
2. Create an Optimized Design Experience (ODE) story.
3. Create a blending between to models with linked dimensions, see help guide: Blend Data
4. Insert e.g. a chart, but it should be built other then the linked dimension => Error message in the chart: "Visualization cannot be provided because there is no linked dimension from the primary model."

• Blending without a linked dimension is called "out of context blending", and it is deprecated in Optimized Design Experience (ODE) story mode.
• It is no longer possible to blend a widget without adding the linked dimension.
