Symptom
Material cost estimate with different value between company code currency and controlling area currency, although the currencies are the same.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Cause
The prices or price units between two currencies may be different.
Resolution
One option is to open two screens, one for the company code currency and the other for the controlling area currency. By comparing the values between the two currencies item by item, the differences can be identified. It is important to check the difference level by level, as it may be related to raw materials on lower levels. The exact material can be located once the difference is found. The prices and price units for the material can then be compared using the app Manage Material Valuations.
Inconsistent maintenance in material prices is common, as the last price change may have only occurred in one of the currencies. Additionally, it is common for the price units to differ between the two currencies. For example, the price unit in the company code currency may be 1000, while it is 1 for the controlling area currency. This can result in different unit prices, even if the overall price is the same, due to rounding issues. When creating a material cost estimate, it is reasonable to expect rounding differences between the two currencies.
Currency | Price Unit | Price |
Company Code Currency | 1000 | 1569.01 |
Controlling Area Currency | 1 | 1.57 |
The solution is simple: ensure that the prices and price units are the same for both currencies.
