Symptom
- You have performed an ad-hoc goods movement from one logistics area to another logistics area.
- Both the logistics areas are under the same site.
- You expect the information of stock movement to be updated at the site level as soon as the movement is completed.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Internal Logistics work center.
- Navigate to the Common Tasks view.
- Choose the Goods Movement task.
- Enter the relevant information for goods movement and save the entries.
Once the goods movement is completed when you check the Supply Planning screen you see there is no change in the total available stock.
Cause
- When materials are moved within the site, the planning view will not be updated because planning always checks for stock at the site level.
- If stocks are moved within the same site, the system does not need to update the planning view as the stock is moved between logistics areas under the same site.
- Users may face stock differences in the stock overview and planning view of inventory if the logistics area from which the stock is moved has a logistics use that does not allow planning to access the available stock.
- An example of this is the logistics use Project Stock. If the business user moves stock from a logistics area with the logistics use Project Stock to a logistics area with the logistics use Storage, the quantity of material moved from the logistics area with Project Stock usage will not be immediately updated in planning due to the reasons mentioned above.
- The data flow verification run, which already exists in the system, will identify and fix this issue frequently. However, if the user checks the planning view before the DFV run is executed, they will see this difference.
Resolution
You can create data flow verification runs specific to Planning view and Inventory and execute them to run every day if this goods movement is frequent at your end due to your business process. You can refer the below KBAs to know details of how the same can be done.
