3516420 - Text views for Custom Fields of type Code List

Symptom

  • You have created a Custom Field of type Code List based on Custom CDS View and you want to extract the Code and Description. 
  • You want to fetch the Description for the Code of Custom Felds but the system gives the error "Usage is not permitted".

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

With release 2408 we delivered the following C1 released views (Cloud Development and Key User):

I_CUSTOMFIELDCODELISTTEXT Custom Field Code List Value Description

I_CUSTOMFIELDCODELISTVALUE Custom Field Code List Value

I_CUSTOMFIELDCODELISTVALUEHELP Value Help View for Custom Field Codes

Resolution

You can use these CDS Views as datasources for a Custom CDS View and filter for the Custom Field that you want to see the Descriptions.
