Symptom
Fixed Assets Migration Error "No period defined for dd.mm.yyyy in fisc. year var. of company ABC set of books 1234" (dd.mm.yyyy represents a date, ABC represents company ID, 1234 represents Set of Books ID).
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to Business Configuration work center.
- Go to Implementation Projects view.
- Open the activity Migration of Material Valuation Data.
- Click to migrate using the migration tool.
- Create a migration unit and execute a Migration Step-by-Step.
In the simulate step, an error is raised as follows: No period defined for dd.mm.yyyy in fisc. year var. of company ABC set of books 1234
Cause
The error occurs because the Auto Completion Method was maintained as "3 - Calculate Historically", hence the system tries to calculate the Depreciation Values from the Initial Capitalization Date.
Since there are Fixed Assets with Initial Capitalization Date with Fiscal Years that don't exist in the system the error is raised.
Resolution
In order to proceed with the migration review settings for Auto Complete method.
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Select the view overview.
- Search and find the activity Migration of Accounting Transaction Data.
- Select the option: Migrate accounting transaction data using the migration tool.
- Select the migration file.
- Select Execute Migration.
- Select the Fixed Asset Migration Object.
- Select Process File.
Go to section "b" Convert Values.
Select either '2' (Copy exclusive current year depreciation) or '4' (Copy inclusive current year depreciation) to be maintained.
Now complete the migration.
Here we can see that Settings for Auto Complete Method is set at 3 - Calculate Historically
Company 1 is only set for Fiscal Year 2024 Since there are Fixed Assets with Initial Capitalization Date with Fiscal Years that don't exist in the system the error is raised.
