Symptom
The following error message is displayed when opening a Master Data Workbook:
The SAP IBP, add-in for Microsoft Excel reached the memory limit of the local computer
Either the Microsoft Excel (32-Bit) or the local hardware memory limit has been reached.
The amount of usable memory for Microsoft Excel (32-Bit) can be increased with "Large Address Aware capability":
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3160741
(The 64-Bit version of Microsoft Excel doesn't have a memory limit.)
You can decrease the amount of memory used if you close some of the open workbooks.
Logging off and logging back on can also help to decrease the amount of memory used.
For attributes that have a lot of attribute values, you can try to change the global configuration parameter "MAX_DIM_MEMBERS" to decrease the amount of memory used. This means that less data is loaded into the memory during log on.
With every workbook opened, memory is consumed but with the global configuration parameter “PV_COUNT_MAX" you can limit the number of open workbooks containing planning views.
