Symptom
- The customer created a custom Extension Field for the Registered Product entity or any other entity, the data is not saved.
- For example, when a new Registered Product (RP) instance is created, the Extension Field is sometimes empty after saving, while other times the value is retained as expected.
Environment
- SAP Service Cloud Version 2 1.0
- SAP Sales Cloud Version 2 1.0
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in to the Tenant:
- Access your SAP Service Cloud instance (e.g., myXXXXXXX.crm.cloud.sap).
- Navigate to Registered Products:
- Open the Registered Products work list.
- Create a New RP Instance:
- Click the + button to create a new registered product instance.
- Fill in Mandatory Fields:
- Complete all required fields, including the custom Extension Field.
- Save the Registered Product:
- Click Save and Open.
- Check the Extension Field:
- Expand the RP header to verify if the value entered in the Extension Field is retained.
- Notice that the field may sometimes be empty.
Cause
- The Extension Field does not automatically save its value unless the user clicks outside the input area before saving.
- If the user directly clicks on Save without focusing out of the field, the value may not be captured correctly.
Resolution
To ensure the Extension Field value is saved properly:
- After entering the value into the Extension Field, click outside the input field (focus out) to ensure the value is registered.
- Once you have clicked outside the field, click Save.
- Re-check the Registered Product instance to confirm that the Extension Field retains the value.
