3517490 - Error: 'Logon failed. Details: Support OData V4 only' when attempting to create a report based on OData in Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • Logon failed.
  • When creating a report based on an OData url in Crystal Reports, it fails with the error:

         "Logon failed.
          Details: Support OData V4 only"

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2020

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a new report.
  2. In the Database Expert, under "Create New Connection", double click on: "OData"
  3. In OData, enter the OData Service root URL, and if needed, the user name and password.
  4. Click "Finish"
  5. It fails with the error: 

      "Logon failed.
       Details: Support OData V4 only"

Cause

  • As the error message indicates, the OData service is not an OData version 4, and Crystal Reports supports OData V4 only.

Resolution

  • Update the OData service to version 4
