3517836 - Error occurred when transitioning the workflow - Employee Central

When trying to update the Hire Date in the workflow page for a new hire from RCM/ONB, an error message appears: "Error occurred when transitioning the workflow" when approving the workflow. 

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. Submit the hire;
2. Open the workflow for the new hire after the initial hire date has passed;
3. Update the hire date;
4. Approve the workflow;
5. Error pops-up.

This is not supported by design for users from Onboarding because the original hire date must be respected or changed in the onboarding process. 

To change the hire date of a submitted new hire from Onboarding, you can follow the alternatives below:

1. Proceed with the workflow approval and perform a Hire Date Correction after as per KBA 2636395 - Hire Date Correction: Change Hire Date Retroactively Across All Hire Date Relevant Portlets;
2. Withdraw the workflow and change the hire date in Manage Pending Hires - see KBA  2934829 - How to Change New Hire Start Date in Onboarding - Onboarding - SAP for Me
