3519958 - Error "Invalid namespace for Number Range Number" while maintaining Number Ranges for billing documents - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

Error message "Invalid namespace for Number Range Number" (/FTI/WEBGUI_MSG031) is raised when trying to maintain a new Number Range number (Column name - No) for billing documents.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

As per cloud framework guideline, customers cannot create records starting with below mentioned SAP Best practice content namespace restrictions

SAP reserved character fields - S, Q, R, X, P, Y
SAP reserved numeric fields - 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0

This restriction is implemented to protect the customer data because if same records are delivered by SAP in future releases then customer created records will be overwritten.

The key field in this case is the attribute “Number Range Number”.

Resolution

Enter a Number Range Number which is not starting with the above mentioned SAP reserved character and numeric fields - 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, S, Q, R, X, P and Y.
