3520149 - How customer can log into SuccessFactors

• In SuccessFactors, customer can login via different login methods, this article describes how end user can log into SuccessFactors with proper Login Name since basic authentication will be deprecated by November 13, 2026.

Current behavior in SuccessFactors

In SuccessFactors, end user can use basic authentication (username/password) or Single-Sign On to log into system. Since basic authentication will be deprecated soon (November 13, 2026), we encourage customer to use SAP Identity Services – Identity Authentication (IAS) for authentication instead. 

For username/password (PWD) login users:

The end user should use the "Login Name" to log in.  If your SuccessFactors tenant is still using basic authentication, i.e. using SuccessFactors username and password to login, though the end user could use "User Name" to log in, it will be deprecated in the future. 

For single-sign on login users:

The end user should use the "Login Name" to log in. If your SuccessFactors tenant is integrated with SAP Cloud Services – Identity Authentication (IAS), and/or with a corporate IDP, “Login Name” is the only user name the end user should use to login. 

Pleasure ensure that “Login Name” is always updated with the correct user name that the person will be using to log into SuccessFactors tenant.

How can I check current "Login Method" and "Login Name"  

We recommend to go to Admin Center > Manage Login Accounts to view the current "Login Method" and "Login Name" - as per KBA 2859043

Attention:

• If the tenant is enabled pure SSO, the login method will not take effect, all users' login method is SSO - if your tenant is integrated with IAS, partial SSO is disabled by default.
• If the tenant is enabled partial SSO, the login method of end user takes effect:
  • If end user's login method= PWD, then user use username/password to login
  • if end user's login method= blank/SSO, then user use SSO to login
