Symptom
- When attempting to export the model to a ".CSV" file, the export process fails and the following error occurs:
"There was an error in the export of ["Model_Name"] to CSV. Correlation ID" - Under workspace /Model structure/Data foundation, the following message displayed:
"We are having trouble displaying your model data. This model contains a lot of data! Unfortunately, we are not able to display it all in the Data foundation. You can add the model to a story to explore the data." - The Model contains a large amount of data, making it impossible to display all of it.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud.
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to the SAC system.
- Navigate to the model.
- Switch to "Data Management" workspace.
- Go to "Export Jobs" and click on "Export data" > "Export Model As File" > "Create New Schedule"
- Attempt to export the model on "Export Details" : Export Model to "File Repository" or "File Server" > "Select folder"
- Click on "Export".
- Notice the error
>>"There was an error in the export of ["Model_Name"] to CSV. Correlation ID:"
Cause
- Currently, the export of model as ".CSV" file in SAC cannot support a large volume of data.
- If the amount of data in the model exceeds its capacity, the export will definitely fail.
- The export limit depends on the type of data being exported:
- If calculations are not included in the export job, the default export limit is 6 million rows.
- If account calculations are included, the default limit is reduced to 1 million rows.
Resolution
- To reduce the amount of data to be exported, follow these steps:
-
- Go to the "Export Model As File" dialog.
- Click on the "Select Data" tab.
- Choose specific dimensions and measures that you want to export.
- Click "Export"
- Ensure that the selected period does not contain a large amount of data. If it does, consider splitting the period. For example, instead of applying the filter for one year, apply it for only one quarter.
- If calculations are used, ensure that the final exported number of rows multiplied by the number of calculation inputs per row is less than the 1 million row limit.
- To reduce the number of calculation inputs for the query, simplify the calculations.
