3521568 - "User does not have permissions to read an instance of type Workflow" Error in SmartEdit

Symptom

Upon accessing a page in SmartEdit, failed requests similar to the followinf one are seen in the console tab of the browser

  • GET https://{yourStorefront}/cmssmarteditwebservices/v1/inbox/workflowtasks?currentPage=0&pageSize=XX 400

And similar logs as below one can be seen being recorded:

  • de.hybris.platform.cms2.exceptions.TypePermissionException: Unauthorized type access. Reason: User does not have permissions to read an instance of type Workflow
