3523313 - Blending charts using only measures does not work in Optimized Design Experience in SAP Analytics Cloud

One of the following symptoms and experienced in the SAP Analytics Cloud Optimized Story:

1. Blending charts that only use measures in Optimized Design Experience show the following message:
   • Visualization cannot be provided because there is no linked dimension from the primary model.
2. From the builder panel, the linked model shows the following error message:
   • A linked dimension for this model is not included in the visualization's dimension bindings.

If a dimension is added to the chart, blending works and the widget shows data.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

1. Visualization cannot be provided because there is no linked dimension from the primary model.
   1. Create an Optimized story and add linked dimensions from different models to it
   2. Add a chart with just measures to the story
   3. Notice that the chart does not render and shows the following message:
      • Visualization cannot be provided because there is no linked dimension from the primary model. 
        
        
        
2. A linked dimension for this model is not included in the visualization's dimension bindings.
   1. Create an Optimized story and add linked dimensions from different models to it
   2. Add a Numeric Point Chart (which only accepts measures) to the story
   3. Notice that the chart does not render and does not show any messages
   4. Go to the builder panel and there is an error message for the second model as follows:
      • A linked dimension for this model is not included in the visualization's dimension bindings."
   5. Change the chart from Numeric Point to Bar/Column and add a dimension from the second model to it
   6. Notice that the chart gets populated.

Out-of-context and Pseudo blending are not supported for blended data in the optimized story experience. For more details on the restrictions, refer to Blend Data | SAP Help Portal.

• Out-of-context blending - no linked dimension is added to to blend Visualization binding from primary model;
• Pseudo blending - multiple models used in the blend visualization but there are models without any dimension or measure used in the blend visualization.

• Add dimensions to the charts so that they can be consumed with blended data.
• Add more details on the charts so they can consume dimension/measures from different models, but without using the linked dimension.
