Symptom
The business need is to know why there is a difference between the ‘Invoice Date’ and the ‘Posting Date’ of a Supplier Invoice.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (All Versions)
Resolution
The ‘Invoice Date’ (also known as the document date), is the date when the invoice was issued, which is usually provided by the supplier.
The 'Posting Date', on the other hand, represents the date on which the Supplier Invoice is posted in the SAP system and determines the accounting period in which the transaction is recorded.
As a result, these two dates do not necessarily have to be identical.
For example, an invoice might be received today (which is the posting date), but that invoice could have been issued a few days ago (which is the invoice date).
