3523722 - ‘Invoice Date’ and the ‘Posting Date’ of a Supplier Invoice

Symptom

The business need is to know why there is a difference between the ‘Invoice Date’ and the ‘Posting Date’ of a Supplier Invoice.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (All Versions)

Resolution

The ‘Invoice Date’, also known as the document date, is the date when the invoice was issued, which is usually provided by the supplier. This date is not necessarily the same as the posting date. For example, an invoice might be received today (which is the posting date), but that invoice could have been issued a few days ago (which is the invoice date).
