Symptom
When you are trying to create a Sales Order, system is selecting Ship-From Location ABC by default, but you expected it to pick the Ship-From Location XYZ.
ABC and XYZ both represent a Ship-From Location ID.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Sales Orders work center.
- Go to the Sales Orders view.
- Go to the Items tab.
- Create New Sales Order.
- Enter all relevant Details like Account, Employee Responsible, Sales Unit, Materials and Price.
- Perform Availability Check.
- You can see the system selects the Fulfillment Location ABC instead of Location XYZ.
Cause
Based on the transport zone, the system finds possible transport lanes for the product. If it finds more than one matching transport zone, it uses all of them to find transport lanes and then takes the transport lane with the highest priority. If it finds more than one transport zone but no priorities have been maintained for the transport lanes, it uses the one that is more specific. This means that a lane that is to be used to transport the product requested in the order would be preferred over a lane for all products. If no priorities are maintained and none of the transport lanes is more specific than the others, the system selects any of the transport lanes found.
Resolution
You need to manually select the Location XYZ when creating the Sales Order in this case or you can assign priority to the Transport Lanes:
- Go to the work center view "Supply Chain Design Master Data - Transport Lanes".
- Find and select any of the relevant Transport Lane ID.
- Click Edit Priority.
- Scroll down to the required Location and enter the desired priority with 1 being higher than 2 etc.
