Symptom
While creation of a Sales Order, the different Ship-From Location ABC is proposed by default, instead of the Ship-From Location XYZ.
(ABC and XYZ represents Ship-From Location ID.)
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Sales Order work center.
- Under Common task, Select New Sales Order.
- Enter all the mandatory details Account, Employee Responsible, Sales Unit, Materials and Price.
- Under Items tab, perform Availability Check for the relevant line item.
- Observe the system proposes the Fulfillment Location ABC instead of Location XYZ.
(ABC and XYZ represents Ship-From Location ID.)
Cause
Based on the Transport Zone, the system determines the possible Transport Lanes for a Material.
- If multiple matching Transport Zones are found, the system evaluates all corresponding Transport Lanes and selects the one with the highest priority.
- If multiple Transport Lanes are found but no priorities are maintained, the system selects the more specific lane.
For example, a Transport Lane defined for a specific product will be preferred over a Transport Lane defined for all products - If no priorities are maintained and none of the Transport Lane is more specific than the others, the system will select any one of the available Transport Lane.
Resolution
The preferred Ship-From Location must be selected manually while creating the Sales Order or the priorities can be assigned to the Transport Lanes:
- Go to Supply Chain Design Master Data work center.
- Go to Transport Lanes view.
- Search and select the relevant Transport Lane.
- Choose Edit Priority.
- Select the required Location and enter the desired priority with 1 being higher than 2.
