3524851 - HADR SAP application fails to start due to Error SQL9665 Adaptive Server is running in 'Standby' mode - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • SAP Business Suite is being run on SAP ASE with High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR).
  • SAP Application fails to start after restart. It is unable to connect to ASE database.
  • "R3 trans -d" reports error 9665 as follows:

[ASE Error SQL9665]Adaptive Server is running in 'Standby' mode. You do not have the necessary role or privilege to login while the server is running in this mode.
no connect possible: "DBMS = SYBASE --- "

  • Per ASE log file on Primary/Standby node, both ASE server are STANDBY, there is no Primary server.
