3525107 - DB2 Error: Symbol Resolution Failed After DB2 Version Upgrade

Symptom

  • After an upgrade of DB2 version during EHP8 upgrade, the error "0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for /opt/IBM/db2/V9.7.0.8/lib64/libgcffm.a[shr_64.o]" repeatedly occurs in DB2DIAG.LOG.
  • The DB2 version upgrade was performed in the following sequence: DB2 V9.7 -> DB2 10.5 -> DB2 V11.5.9.

Following errors logged in db2diag.log file:

    0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for /opt/IBM/db2/V9.7.0.8/lib64/libgcffm.a[shr_64.o] because:
    0509-136   Symbol ossOpenInstanceList__FPcPPvCb (number 64) is not exported from
           dependent module /db2/db2lep/db2_v11.5.9/lib64/libdb2genreg.a[shr_64.o].
    0509-022 Cannot load module /opt/IBM/db2/V9.7.0.8/lib64/libgcffm.a(shr_64.o).
    0509-026 System error: Cannot run a file that does not have a valid format.
    0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the
         'dump -Tv' command.
