Symptom
When collision checks for absences is enabled, booking a partial day absence over an existing full day or multi-day leave absence results in an error "There are already absences for xxxx in period, so this posting is not possible".
Environment
SuccessFactors Employee Central - Absence Creation : Collision Checks
Reproducing the Issue
- Access Administer Time UI for a sample user.
- Request a partial day absence on a day where a full day absence already exists.
- The system throws up an error "There are already absences for xxxx in period, so this posting is not possible".
For example, there is an Annual leave absence that exists between 1st Oct - 5th Oct. The user is trying to apply 0.5 days of Sick leave on 1st Oct.
Pre-requisite:
Time Management Collision Resolution has been set up as follows:
Incoming Grouping = "SickLeave" (assigned to Sick Leave time type)
Existing Grouping = "All Others"
Collision Resolution Action = "Split or delimit"
Business Requirement:
The expectation is that the system splits the existing Annual leave absence as mentioned below:
- 1st Oct - 1st Oct (0.5 days) - Annual Leave
- 1st Oct (0.5 days) - Sick Leave
- 2nd Oct - 5th Oct - Annual Leave
Cause
This is not feasible to achieve as per the current design.
Resolution
-Engineering team has confirmed that it is not feasible to split partial day, full day, and multiple day absences by creating new partial day absences. However, replacing partial day absences with new full day absences is possible.
-The 2411 version of the implementation guide has been enhanced to reflect the above information.
Please consider submitting an enhancement request as explained in KBA 2090228 if there is a valid business requirement for full day absences to be replaced by partial day absences.
