Symptom

  • An error message is displayed when attempting to input a long string of characters for the 'Event Reason Name' in 'Manage organisation, pay and job structures'. The error message states 'reached the maximum length allowed of 32 characters'.
  • The query arises whether the maximum length for the 'Event Reason Name' can be modified.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to 'Manage organisation, pay and job structures' >> search 'event reason' >> for a certain event reason, take action and make correction >> for 'Event Reason Name', input a long string of characters (for example: testtesttesttesttesttesttesttesttest)
  2. The error message 'reached the maximum length allowed of 32 characters' is displayed.

Cause

It is system expected behavior, as the maximum length of 'Event Reason Name' is set as 32 in the corporate data model.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to Provisioning >> download the corporate data model.
  2. For 'Event Reason Name', adjust the maximum length as desired and then save the changes.
  3. Navigate back to Provisioning >> upload the new corporate data model again.
