3526581 - What is the version infront of Apache Tomcat BI 4 in CCM represents?

Symptom

  • What is the version infront of Tomcat in CCM represents? Is it Tomcat version?
  • CCM shows version infront of Apache Tomcat for BI 4 (eg. 1.3.4.0) and the version is different from actual Apache Tomcat version (eg. Tomcat 9.0.85)

Environment

  • SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence 4.x
  • Windows

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Central Configuration Manager
  2. Check the version infront of Apache Tomcat for BI 4
  3. Also check the Tomcat Version from Tomcat Folder > Release Notes
  4. Both will be different

Cause

The version in front of Apache Tomcat in CCM is not actually Apache Tomcat version

Resolution

The version which we can see CCM, infront of Apache Tomcat BI 4 is not Apache Tomcat version.

It is the version of the wrapper service which runs tomcat. Tomcat does not have a windows service by default. So we run a wrapper program to make it a service and that is the version.

To get actual tomcat version, we need to open Release notes inside tomcat folder.
