3527414 - Not possible to create a Contact from an Account with a non default Script

Symptom

Unable to create Contacts from the Account/Supplier etc. using  non-default scripts.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Account Management work center.
  2. Open e.g. the Accounts view (similar steps on Suppliers).
  3. Edit an Account.
  4. Navigate to the Contacts tab (not all Accounts have a Contacts tab).
  5. Add Row.

For default script the Title, First Name and Last Names fields are editable, but Read-Only for all other scripts.

Cause

Expected behavior. The Contact must first be created with the default script. Afterwards alternative scripts can be maintained directly on the Contact.

Resolution

Follow the below steps to first create the Contact and then maintain the required alternative script fields.

  1. Whenever an Account is created it will be automatically created in the system in the default script.
  2. Navigating to the Contact tab.
  3. The system allows the following actions;
i.) Add row -> Fill First Name/Last Name -> Save: System will create new contact with the default script.
ii.) Use the Assign Contact button to directly assign existing contacts.
  4. Same as with Accounts. Contacts will initially be created with default script. In order to see/maintain another script, user has to enter the Contact and create additional scripts with relevant information.
  5. Once additional scripts are created, go to Account -> Contact. Now, on changing the Account script, the expected information is displayed.
