3527913 - Error: "File validation failed. Create an incident" for Material Migration

Symptom

During the Validate File step in the Migration of Materials activity, a message is received, stating "File validation failed. Create an incident".

Environment

SAP Business Bydesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Business Configuration work center
  2. Select Overview view
  3. Choose Migration of Materials
  4. Migrate Materials using the Migration Tool
  5. Select the related file
  6. Execute Migration > Step by Step
  7. Repeat Validation
  8. Encounter the error message: "File validation failed. Create an incident"

Cause

The case might be caused by content error(s) like missing or incorrect filled fields.  

Resolution

  • Verify the format of the migration file.
  • Correct field format is visible when expanding line 7 (so that all content is visible). Another option is to check the Field List tab of the file. 
  • In case the reason cannot be found, create an SAP Support Case.
