Symptom
This document aims to clarify system ILM rule engine behavior with regards to ILM enabled archiving process.
The ILM rule engine has different values for retention period ( expiration(expiration date and mandatory destruction date) based on the data object being archived.
Below are some of the archiving scenarios and the expiration date being set on the archive file(s):
- Archiving with valid retention rules (finite retention time).
- Archiving with “infinity” retention time.
- Hierarchy trees in the ILM storage environment.
- Convert ILM enabled ADK (with known expiration date) by using extended retention time.
- Convert ILM enabled ADK (with unknown expiration date) by using finite retention time.
