3528671 - Error KI217 "Cost element XXXXXXX in CO area A000 does not exist for DD/MM/YYYY" in Manage Default Account Assignments

When adding a G/L Account in configuration "Manage Default Account Assignment", the error KI217 "Cost element XXXXXXX in CO area A000 does not exist for DD/MM/YYYY" is raised.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The G/L Account is not a Primary Costs and Revenue accounts type. The configuration is to define automatic additional account assignments for postings to primary cost elements. 

Only accounts that can be considered as primary cost elements should be used in default account assignment.
