3529182 - Request Observer - searching name results

When attempting to request an observer for a learning item, the observer's name does not always appear as expected in the search results.

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

1. Go to Learning >
2. Search for the learning item and click on "Request Observers" >
3. In the "Search for observers" section, enter the name of the observer >
4. The observer's name does not appear in the search results.

Note: There’s an additional scenario in which searching with a keyword that exactly matches a user’s full first + last name combo may exclude the intended user, while still returning other partially matching results, especially when typed very quickly. The exact user is not shown, even though partial matches appear.

The API used for the observer search functionality returns only the first 10 results.

Perform the search for the desired Observer using the format "LastName FirstName" to narrow down the search results and find the observer. As per the current design, when a user tries to find observers by typing a keyword in the search bar, the maximum number of results displayed is 10, with no pagination. The user is not seeing the desired observer in the top 10 results, even though the backend query retrieves it. To enhance the search results, we need to paginate them. This product enhancement is already being worked on through LRN-205181, planned for the 2605 (1H2026) release. Note: For the additional scenario, there are current workarounds suggested:

• Pressing backspace once to retrigger the search,
• Typing slowly,
• Typing the full name except for the last character,
• Or searching by full User ID.
