3530532 - Understanding the Difference Between On-Hand and Available Stock

Symptom

  • The Available Stock in the Source Logistics Area is lower than the On-Hand Stock.
  • The discrepancy between On-Hand Stock and Available Stock is observed in the Production Control workcenter.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Production Control workcenter.
  2. Go to the Task Control view.
  3. Find the required ID and choose confirm.
  4. Select value selection for logistics area.
  5. A new window opens displaying two columns "On-Hand" and "Available Stock" with differing values.

Cause

The difference between On-Hand and Available Stock in SAP Business ByDesign is that On-Hand Stock is the total amount of inventory physically available, while Available Stock is the On-Hand Stock minus any quantities reserved for open transactions.
