3531506 - Incorrect Stock Availability Display for Production Order XYZ Due to Expired Lot.

When reviewing the stock and demand overview for production order XYZ, the system indicates that the order is ready for release. However, the user believes this is incorrect, as the input product (Product ID: ABC) lacks available stock. The only stock present is in a lot that has expired due to its expiration date, and should not be considered valid for production release.

(XYZ represents production order ID, ABC represents the Product ID)

1. Go to Production Control - By Order Header View.
2. Search for and Select Production Order ID XYZ.
3. Click Edit.
4. Click on the 'Stock and Demand Overview' Button
5. You notice that the Release is possible.
6. You believe that the Production Order should not be able to be Released because the Product ID ABC is expired.

This display of expired stock in the "Stock and Demand Overview" is simply an extension of the broader Stock Overview report, reflecting the same stock visibility for the production order.

The key point to note here is that the Stock Overview report is intentionally designed to provide visibility into all quantities of stock for a product, regardless of its usability. Expired or spoiled stock continues to appear in the report until it is formally removed from inventory or designated as scrap/expired. This ensures users have full transparency of all stock at a site and logistics area, even if some of it is no longer valid for production.

When you click on “Stock and Demand Overview” for production order XYZ, you can see both on-hand stock and identified stock related to the product. This includes stock that may have already expired. However, please note that while expired stock is displayed, it cannot be used in production due to system validations and built-in logic that prevent the consumption of expired products.

To maintain accurate inventory records and avoid confusion regarding stock availability, it is important for business users to execute appropriate goods movements to remove expired products from inventory. Once expired products are removed, they will no longer appear in the stock overview or the on-hand stock for the “Stock and Demand Overview” of the production order.
