Symptom
Some project stock is firstly allocated to a project stock order (PSO) line item, and then returned to another logistics area. But the value of Delivered Quantity in that PSO line item is not deducted accordingly.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a Project Stock Order (PSO) in a project. One of its line item has Item Type as "Consumption at Site" with product ID ABC. Release this PSO.
- In work center view "Outbound Logistics Control - Customer Demand", release corresponding customer demand line item with product ID ABC.
- In work center view "Outbound Logistics - Delivery Proposals", find corresponding delivery proposal, click Allocate.
- Maintain Actual Quantity for the line item of product ID ABC, for example, 10 ea. Maintain other mandatory fields, click Save.
- Check the line item of product ABC in this PSO, Delivered Quantity is 10 ea.
- Return the 10 ea project stock, according to steps in blog "Product returns from projects to inventory".
- Check the line item of product ABC in this PSO, Delivered Quantity is still 10 ea.
Cause
For project stock order line item, currently the Delivered Quantity field will only consider the quantity allocated, regardless the quantity returned.
The reason is as following:
When creating the Project Stock Order (PSO) , allocating stock to the project Logistic area (LOA) results in the respective project ID tagged to the product. This tagging is reflected in stock overview for the respective product. When user performs the goods movement from the project LOA, the project ID is also visible on the goods movement tab. However , technically it is not feasible to update the delivery quantity in the PSO during the goods movement from a Project LOA . This is because the stock is tagged to Project ID .
Under single Project ID , there can be multiple tasks, and these tasks might use the same product ID . According to design, the stock quantities of a product are aggregated at product ID (LOA, Storage Location, Site, iStock and Product). As a result, user has flexibility to consume the stock at different tasks with same PSO.
It is also not feasible to generate a report that which task should be updated with the delivery quantity during the goods movement, since the stock is linked with Project ID.
Resolution
This is ad-hoc return for project stock orders in Business ByDesign system.
The improvement is to be discussed.
For the time being, please complete the PSO item once they have done returns.
