Symptom
During the creation of a Supplier the system does not prompt an error related to the empty Postal Code, which is marked as Mandatory.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Supplier Base work center.
- Then go to the Suppliers view.
- Click New Supplier.
- Maintain the Supplier's name.
- Leave the Postal Code empty.
- Click save.
- System allows the operation.
Cause
The system is designed to work in such a way that the Postal Code is not considered mandatory during the creation of a Supplier, even though it is marked as such. This is due to the Business Configuration settings where the field "Street Address Postal Code Required" is checked for India. The error message will only appears if a user enters a street address but not the postal code.
Resolution
In this scenario, the system is working as expected. The solution would be to maintain a Street Code and then the error message related to the empty Postal Code will appear properly.
