3535919 - Calculation formula gives unexpected result in import model in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

The following behavior occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC):

  • In SAC modeler and Analyzer, adding dimensions such as due date, reference date, and expected dimensions is necessary to retrieve the result of a formula. Without these dimensions, the report may display extra rows for each customer, rather than the expected single row.
  • Removing some particular flags from rows may result in no results for the affected column.
  • The issue only affects existing models, not newly created ones.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud Version 2024.15.16

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log on to SAC.
  2. Open modeler.
  3. Access the affected model.
  4. Switch to Calculations tab.
  5. Notice that when trying to add rows, values under a specific column do not show any results (it will be all crossed out in the column) unless you also include a specific dimension in rows.

Cause

  • Works as expected.

Resolution

  • If you use the formula in a chart, the dimensions that you used in the formula must be added to the chart.
  • In the Modeler UI Calculation preview we have only table view, but this is the same as chart in this case. This means you should add the specific dimensions to rows in the Calculation Preview to see the formula results.
