3536162 - Submit for Approval button disabled for sales documents

The 'Submit for Approval' button is greyed out for Sales Order or Sales Quotes, even though the conditions for the Approval Process maintained matches with the sales document.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to Sales > Sales Orders/Quotes.
2. Open the desired document.
3. Click on Actions > Submit for approval is greyed out.

One of the many reasons for the button being disabled is:

The affected Sales Order or Quote has the Submit for Approval disabled because the document was created before the creation of Approval Process. This is the reason the document is not relevant for Approval Process. 

A test that can be done is to copy the same Order/Quote and create a new Order/Quote from it. The Submit for Approval action should be enabled because there is a valid approval process active currently.

This is the expected system behavior.
