Symptom
An error message "Conversion rate for ABC and DEF missing on DD.MM.YYYY" is encountered when creating a manual payment.
(ABC and DEF stands for the currency acronym)
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Payables Work Center > Supplier Accounts view
- Search for the desired Supplier Account and open it
- Click on "Pay manually by" and select the Outgoing payment method
- Click View All
- Enter the required information
- Under Bank Account ID, select the desired bank account
- Inform the Payment Method
- Click on "Post".
- The error message "Conversion rate for ABC and DEF missing on DD.MM.YYYY" is displayed.
Cause
When trying to post the payment, the system performs some validations and one validation is if there is any configuration maintained in the Business Configuration Work Center > Global Settings for Payment activity > Prioritize Bank Accounts and Payment Method based on Amount. In this case, the system checks for all currencies which are maintained and subsequently validates whether the exchange rate has been maintained or not between these currencies.
If there is no exchange rate maintained between these currencies, the system throws this error.
Resolution
- Review the settings of the "Prioritize Bank Accounts and Payment Methods based on Amount" under the Business Configuration Work Center > Overview > Global Settings for Payment activity.
- Maintain an exchange rate between the affected currencies.
