Symptom
When reporting on behaviors on the form with the Story Report,
- the behavior name is not correspondent to that on the form.
- old and current behavior name records are all pulled to the report.
- duplicate behavior records are displayed.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management
- SAP SuccessFactors Analytics & Reporting
Reproducing the Issue
- Launch a form that contains behaviors
- Report on it - only one behavior name is displayed for one behavior ID
- Change the behavior name
- Launch a new form
- Report on both forms
- Expand to "Competency" and select behavior name - old and new names for the behavior are displayed for both forms
- Expand to "Competency" > "Behavior" and select behavior name - duplicate behavior records are displayed for both forms
Cause
Currently, this is a known product limitation.
Due to technical difficulties, currently it's hard to fix this issue to hide old or duplicated behavior names as the fix will highly impact the performance by taking up too much memory during the query and thus causing the reporting to fail or timeout.
Resolution
Workaround:
1. Use filter to manually exclude unwanted records
2. Ad Hoc report doesn't share the same mechanism as Story Report. Currently, the table report is able to pull behavior name correspondent to what is displayed on the form.
Prevention:
In order for Story Report to pull behavior name correspondent to what is displayed on the form, clear relation needs to be specified among form, competency and behavior.
i.e. old form - competency - old behavior name; new form - competency - new behavior name
To prevent this issue in future report, it is advised to create a new behavior if changes to the behavior name is needed. Meanwhile, set the old behavior status to Inactive, so that old records will be kept with the old form, and new behavior with new ID won't get mixed up with the old record.
