3538059 - Compensation Pie Chart behavior in New People Profile - SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Symptom

  • In the New People Profile, the Compensation Pie Chart only displays the annualized salary.
  • The pie chart does not display other pay component groups, even though multiple pay component groups exist.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Profile - Latest People Profile
  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Search for a sample Employee
  2. Navigate to the Compensation category for New People Profile.
  3. Under the Compensation Information card, observe that only the annualized salary is displayed in the Pie Chart.

Cause

As per current system design, it takes precedence on Annualized Salary, which does not allow to manipulate Pie Chart.

The new Configure Latest People Profile  Full Profile - Compensation  Compensation Information  (Edit)  Hide Pie Chart setting allows admins to decide whether to display the pie chart or not, which is helpful for customers with only 1 pay component group and this setting will be available from 1H 2026 release.

If hidden, the system displays the top 4 recurring pay components. If there are no recurring pay components, the top 4 non-empty fields of Compensation Information are displayed.

If not hidden, meaning the pie chart is displayed, there is a specific logic to what is displayed:

  • If there are multiple pay component groups, then the pay component group with the Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures  Pay Component Group  Use for Range Penetration setting set to Yes appears first in the pay component list and the pie chart.
  • If none of the pay component groups have this setting, then the Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures  Pay Component Group  Sort Order setting determines the ordering in the People Profile. The first in the list is considered for pie chart.

Resolution

  • The system takes precedence on Annualized Salary as Pay Component Group to be displayed in Pie Chart with Use for Range Penetration setting set to Yes
  • If the Annualized Salary is not configured as a Pay Component Group, system will select the pay component group randomly.
  • The pie chart will display the name of the pay components assigned to Annualized Salary or to the pay component group. It is not possible to change the label displayed, as it only shows the pay components' names.

Note:

  • If there are multiple pay component groups, then the pay component group with the Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures  Pay Component Group  Use for Range Penetration setting set to Yes appears first in the pay component list and the pie chart.

  • If none of the pay component groups have this setting, then the Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures  Pay Component Group  Sort Order setting determines the ordering in the People Profile. The first in the list is considered for pie chart.

example:

Note: When Multiple Pay Component Groups Exist

  • When multiple Pay Component Groups are configured, the system applies a priority-based display order in the Compensation Information UI
  • The Pay Component Group with "Use for Range Penetration" set to Yes appears first in both the pay component list and the compensation pie chart
  • If no group has this flag enabled, the system selects the first Pay Component Group based on the Sort Order flag defined in the Pay Component Group configuration
  • Only one Pay Component Group should have "Use for Range Penetration = Yes" to avoid system conflicts See KBA: 2793218 - Error when setting the flag "Use for Comparatio Calculation" to Yes or "Use for Range Penetration" to Yes for Multiple Pay Component Group.
