Symptom
- The system allows the creation of an Inbound Delivery with a zero quantity without the need to report a deviation.
- This behavior is observed when attempting to post goods receipt without a task.
Environment
- Inbound Delivery Request
- SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Inbound Logistics work center.
- Access the Inbound Delivery Notifications view.
- Search and select the relevant delivery notification document.
- Click on the Post Goods Receipt button.
- Enter zero in the Actual Quantity field.
- Click on the Save and Close button.
Cause
- This is a business flexibility provided to document business cases where no quantity has been received from the supplier shipment.
- While using logistics tasks, additional options of documenting and recording deviations are available.
- The Post Goods Issue screen is a dynamic screen for which multiple logistics documents like warehouse request, warehouse order, and warehouse confirmations are created in one step.
- To keep the system performance optimal, functionalities like recording deviations are not available in the Post Goods Issue screen.
Note : The system displays a warning message "Zero quantity is entered for the Fulfillment item XX" (XX represents line item ID) when zero quantity is entered for awareness of the user.
Resolution
- If a system behavior enhancement is believed to be necessary, post the request in the Customer Influence Forum.
